David Collins of Collins Wood Crafting will be at the NY-NY Pen Show for the first time ever . . . .
David's story: After many years of working in the financial industry and in luxury automotive sales, he found a need for unique, custom made writing instruments. In sales, it is your most important tool. Although he has worked in every major financial center in the world as a consultant, he now lives on a farm in rural Iowa. He says: "I could not be happier. I have a large workshop were all pens are handcraft by me. My workspace has grown to accommodate wood working, metal working, casting equipment, milling stations and a small forge. Pens are made from a solid piece of wood or material and turned by hand on a lathe. I am constantly searching for exotic woods and materials and presently use over 40 different types of wood from around the world".
Specialties: He prefers to work with natural materials, as they are the most unique. Two of his favorite materials are ivory and buffalo horn. He is now working with two types of ivory. Legal, pre-ban ivory that is unbleached and 10,000 year old mammoth ivory from Russia. Both have a limited quantity available as they will someday all be gone. He takes special care in working with the ivory to ensure that it will last for many years. The finished pen feels like round piano keys.
He also found a need for storage, for himself and my clients. David said: "A client commissioned me to make a 200 pen collector chest to store his pen collection. The project was a success and I have been supplying pen enthusiasts with custom made storage boxes and chests on a regular basis". Much of his work is custom orders for collectors and previous clients. You can see more on David Collins unique pens and cases at www.CollinsWoodCrafting.com

In recent years, he has worked as a distributor for companies such as Ancora, Conway Stewart, Sailor, and Stipula. He also has extensive experience making repairs and adjustments, especially with those by the aforementioned companies and also those by Conklin, Delta, Ferrari da Varese, Platinum, and Visconti. WHY SOME FOUNTAIN PENS CAN MAKE ANYONE'S WRITING LOOK GOOD!
(and how to find them at a pen show.)
Susan Wirth of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, says some of her best customers are those who initially believed they couldn't use a fountain pen saying,
"I can't use a fountain pen because I have terrible handwriting. "
"I can't use a fountain pen because I'm left-handed. "
"I can't use a fountain pen because I just print. "
This workshop is focused on helping you find a fountain pen that really enhances your writing
